Game Creek Club, on mountain in Game Creek Bowl, Vail
Saturday evening, June 26th
Join us for a fabulous evening – and spectacular sunset view – at the Game Creek
Club at the top of Vail’s famous Game
Creek Bowl. Access to the Club is by gondola and lift tickets are included in
the cost of the dinner. Vail Resorts has
generously donated this venue to the Chaine for its first annual Colorado
Mountain College young chefs challenge. Five of
the area’s top chefs – Jean‐Michel Chelain (Chaine member and co‐owner/chef of
The Left Bank, Vail), David Walford
(Chaine member and owner/chef of Splendido), Richard Beichner (Executive Chef,
Ludwig’s), David Clawson (Executive
Chef, Game Creek Club) and Kirk Weems (Executive Chef, Allie’s Cabin and the
Rendezvous in Beaver Creek) – are teaming
up with Maître de Table Restaurateur Todd Rymer’s culinary students from
Colorado Mountain College (many of whom are
already working in fine dining restaurants in Vail Valley), to compete for your
palate. Each team will produce one passed
appetizer and a course that was decided by drawing out of a hat. The theme of
the evening is a celebration of French Chef
Fernand Point in honor of the 60th
anniversary of the modern Chaine. At the end of the evening, the diners will
chose the
winning team. This is a very special event for the Vail Bailliage as we bring
together some of the areas finest chefs to
promote culinary education in the High Country. The dinner will be paired with
lovely wines donated by Yarden Inc. of
Israel. The generous donations of the venue by Vail Resorts and the wines by
Yarden makes it possible for us to raise
money for a Chaine scholarship at Colorado Mountain College.
At this dinner, we will also celebrate the induction of new members and the
elevation and recognition of existing ones.
Bailli Délégué, George Brown, will be present to do the honors.
Maximum number of guests for this event is 120. Your returned reservation page
with payment will guarantee your
reservation on a first come, first served basis.

Getting to Vail
There are two ways to get to Vail. Major airlines such as Southwest, Frontier,
American, United and Continental have good
service into Denver from the Southwest Region. Vail is approximately 2 hours
from Denver International Airport. American
Airlines has daily non‐stop Boeing 757 summer service between Dallas‐Forth Worth
and Eagle County Regional Airport
(EGE) located approximately 40 minutes from Vail. Because of the timing of the
flight, it is possible to have connections
from other cities through DFW to EGE.
Colorado Mountain Express (http://www.ridecme.com/)
is the main provider of van and SUV shuttle service between
Denver International Airport and Eagle County Regional Airport, and Vail. We are
working on obtaining special Chaine
pricing for shuttle service, but do not have those prices at this time.
The summertime is a great time to rent a car. No need to worry about snow on
Vail Pass in late June (at least we hope
not!). Often car rental for more than one person can be cheaper than the
shuttles from the airports and it gives you the
freedom to tour the countryside. All the major car rental companies are
represented at Denver and EGE.
Dress code
What is “mountain elegant?”
– Beaver Creek and Vail are casual places and we rarely get dressed up. When we
go to the
theatre or restaurants like Ludwig’s, Left Bank and Splendido, the men usually
wear nice slacks with sweaters and/or
button‐down shirts. Our gentlemen members often wear blazers to “mountain
elegant” events. For the ladies, it can be
cocktail dress (our members like that), nice pants and top or skirts.
What is Country Western wear?
– David Walford wants to create a relaxed atmosphere for his grill dinner at
Splendido, so
wear your favorite jeans, cowboy hat and boots or whatever you like for this
fun, Rocky Mountain evening in Beaver Creek.
What is “Rocky Mountain Black Tie?”
– We like to be different in Colorado, so we came up with this combination of
black
tie and blue jeans for the guys and evening wear for the ladies. Get creative,
guys, and come with your jeans and boots
from the waist down and your black tie dress on the top. Ladies, come in your
eveningwear (which up here also includes
elegant pants).
