Dear Confréres and Friends,
It seems like only yesterday that the Board of Directors of the San Antonio Bailliage was planning the events for a momentous 2006 and now we approach the final event of the year with much joy and anticipation. The holiday season is here, or so it seems from the plethora of Christmas decorations in the stores and malls. Once again, it is time for our most festive event of the year, our annual Holiday Formal Dinner.
Vice Conseiller Culinaire Randy Mathews has graciously allowed us to have this year’s event at Zinc Champagne, Spirits and Wine Bar. Our welcoming reception will be in the courtyard (weather permitting) and the semi-private room. The dinner will be in the wine cellar. If you have never attended a dinner in Zinc’s Wine Cellar, you are in for a special treat. The ambience of the space makes it an ideal venue for a comfortable, enjoyable, festive evening. Also, Randy and his partner Richard have all of their best wines stored down there and have neglected to put a metal detector at the top of the stairs to prevent duplicitous souls from bringing their own corkscrews and livening up the event with “unauthorized selections.”
In keeping with the sense of a traditional holiday dinner, the main course will be prime rib carved to order. One tradition that we are hoping to avoid is the deluge that normally occurs on the night of our dinner. To this end, we have not scheduled barge rides, thereby insuring good weather for all. Get all spiffed up in your tuxes and your gowns and join us at Zinc on December 10.
